Gibbon Ape

Gibbons are the smallest of the apes, weighing 25-30 pounds. They inhabit the Southeastern portions of Asia, and the islands of Sumatra, Manila, and the Philippines.

These apes are tree dwellers who either walk along branches on their two back legs or swing, hanging by their arms, from branch to branch. They do not build nest but sleep upright in the trees.

Gibbons live in family groups of a male, a female and their young. They call out in strong voices that can be heard up to 5 miles away.
